Elk seizoen tijdens de eindpresentaties hebben we een fotowedstrijd als afsluiting van onze fotografiecursussen.
Het thema dat de docenten hebben gekozen voor dit seizoen is: Light in Darkness.
Er worden twee soorten prijzen uitgereikt:
Er is een publieksprijs waarvan de winnaar een huurtegoed wint t.w.v. €100,- bij Budgetcam. Hier kun je professionele lenzen huren om te testen of thuis een keer aan de slag met studiolichten.
De publieksprijs wordt twee keer per seizoen uitgereikt. Aan het einde van het eerste cursusblok (op 19 november, voor inzendingen van het eerste blok) en aan het einde van het tweede cursusblok (op vrijdag 11 februari 2022, voor inzendingen van het huidige blok).
Per blok worden 5 genomineerden geselecteerd voor de publieksprijs, die samen ook nog kans maken op de juryprijs.
Bij de juryprijs krijgt de winnaar een gratis 8-weekse CREA cursus naar keuze (in het voor- of najaar van 2022). Ook zal de winnende foto gedurende een geheel seizoen op groot formaat in de hal komen te hangen! De juryprijs wordt op 11 februari 2022 uitgereikt.
Hoe werkt het?
Er zijn drie manieren waarop je je stem kunt uitbrengen op de genomineerden voor de publieksprijs:

Op deze website! Hieronder staan de 5 genomineerden. Klik op het hartjesicoon bij je favoriete foto om je stem uit te brengen.

Op Facebook: like je favoriete foto op onze fotowedstrijdpost! (wordt geplaatst op donderdag 10 februari om 16u)

Op Instagram: kies jouw favoriet met onze Insta-story polls (wordt gepost op donderdag 11 februari om 16u)

Stemmen is mogelijk vanaf het moment dat deze website gelanceerd wordt tot vrijdag 11 februari 2022 om 16.00 uur. Daarna tellen we de stemmen en rond 17.00 uur worden de winnaars van zowel de publieks- als de juryprijs bekend gemaakt op deze pagina en via een post op Instagram en Facebook!

Every semester during the final
presentation weekend, we have a photo competition as a finale to our photography courses.
The theme the teachers have decided on this season is: Light in Darkness.
Two kinds of prizes will be awarded:
There is an audience award of which the winner wins a rent credit worth €100 at Budgetcam. The audience prize is awarded twice a season. At the end of the first course block (on 19 November, for entries from the former block) and at the end of this course block (on Friday February 11th 2022, for entries from this block).
For each block, five nominees will be selected for the audience award, who together will also have a chance of winning the jury prize.
The winner of the jury award will receive a free 8-week CREA course of their choice (in the spring or fall of 2022). The winning photo will also be displayed in large format in CREA's main hall for an entire season! The jury prize will be awarded on February 11th 2022.
How does it work?
There are three ways in which you can cast your vote on the nominees for the audience award:

On Facebook: like your favourite photograph on our photo contest post! (will be posted on Thursday 10 February at 16:00 hrs)

On Instagram: pick your favourite with our Insta-story polls. (will be posted on Thursday 10 February at 16:00 hrs)

Voting will be possible from the moment this website is launched until 16:00 hrs Friday the 11th of February 2022. After that we will count the votes and around 17:00 hrs we will announce the winners here and in a post on our Instagram and Facebook.

Hugo Rompa
Hugo heeft jarenlang fotografiecursussen gegeven bij CREA. Sinds vorig jaar is hij met pensioen en hij is nu voor het eerst jurylid bij de fotografiewedstrijd.
In het begin was Hugo voornamelijk luchtfotograaf, nu houdt hij zich bezig met uiteenlopende disciplines; portret, interieur, documentair, reproductie (van kunstwerken). Hij gaf les aan de Rietveld Academie, aan de Hogeschool Utrecht en bij CREA. Hugo werkt aan verschillende projecten, deels in opdracht, deels als vrij werk.
Hugo has given photography courses at CREA for many years. He retired last year and is now a judge at the photography competition for the first time.
Hugo started off as an aerial photographer, and now enjoys a broad range of disciplines: the portrait, interiors, documentaries, and reproduction of art. He taught at the Rietveld Academie, at the Hogeschool Utrecht and at CREA. Hugo is working on a variety of projects, in part as commissions and in part as a freelancer.

Marjolein
van Damme
Toen Marjolein haar studie Journalistiek begon, begon ze tegelijkertijd te fotograferen. Ze reisde door allerlei creatieve bedrijven, landen en baantjes om haar weg te vinden als fotograaf, schrijver en regisseur. Ze werkte onder andere voor merken/bedrijven als het Parool, gemeente Amsterdam, &C, L'Oréal, VPRO, Tommy Hilfiger en Tele2.
When Marjolein started her studies in Journalism, she started to photograph at the same time. She traveled through all kind of creative companies, countries and silly jobs to find her way as a photographer, writer and director. She worked for brands/companies such as Het Parool, municipality of Amsterdam, &C, L'Oréal, VPRO, Tommy Hilfiger and Tele2.

Juryrapport:
Mooi documentair beeld van een (zo lijkt het) dakloze. Er zit een mooie spanning in het beeld wat het interessant maakt. Er is contact tussen de fotograaf en de dakloze, dat maakt het beeld sterk. Er is veel te ontdekken in deze foto: de kerstversiering van de Bijenkorf staat in schril contrast met de persoon die in de vuilnisbak staat de graaien. De titel van het beeld is daarom goed gekozen. Fotografisch boeiend; mooie korrel en mooie zwart wit tinten. De gebouwen - waaraan duidelijk te zien is dat het Amsterdam is - lopen mooi zacht af in de achtergrond.

Jury report:
Nice documentary image of a (seemingly) homeless person. There is a nice tension in the image which makes it interesting. There is contact between the photographer and the homeless person, which makes the image strong. There is a lot to discover in this photo: the Christmas decorations of the Bijenkorf department store stand in stark contrast to the person who is grabbing in the waste bin. The title of the image is therefore well chosen. Photographically captivating; nice grain and beautiful black and white tones. The buildings - which clearly show that this is Amsterdam - run beautifully softly into the background.

Juryrapport:
Opmerkelijk beeld. Het thema licht in duisternis is op verschillende manieren verwerkt. Conceptueel is het een sterk beeld, maar door de analoge look en feel heeft het iets ‘toevalligs’. De witte delen zijn goed gekozen; de witte parels in de oren, de witte hoed en de witte vlakken voor de ogen. De serene uitdrukking van de vrouw is intrigerend. Het is een tijdloos beeld. Los van alle lagen is het een mooi portret.

Remarkable image. The theme of light in darkness has been incorporated in various ways. Conceptually it is a strong image, but because of the analogue look and feel it has something 'accidental' about it. The white parts are well chosen; the white pearls in the ears, the white hat and the white patches in front of the eyes. The serene expression of the woman is intriguing. It is a timeless image. Apart from all the layers, it is a beautiful portrait.

Juryrapport:
Spannend beeld van de Arena waarbij er een beslissend moment gevangen is. Een lucky shot, maar je moet het wel nèt zien. Mooie en spannende benadering binnen de thematiek. De rook in het licht geeft een raadselachtig gevoel in de duisternis. Wat is hier aan de hand?

Exciting image of the Arena in which a decisive moment is captured. A lucky shot, but you have to see it just right. Beautiful and exciting approach within the theme. The smoke in the light gives an enigmatic feeling in the darkness. What is going on here?
